Do you find it difficult to find time to exercise on a daily basis? Many of us are extremely busy: work, family, household tasks and chores, along with what feels like hundreds of other daily commitments. It can feel impossible to find extra time for daily exercise.

Yet we each realize that daily exercise is extremely important to our good health. That’s why we want you to join us for National Walk @ Lunch Day on Wednesday, April 24 to start a new healthy habit. This is something that you and your coworkers can incorporate as part of your daily routine.

‘Working Lunch’ vs. Walking Lunch

Participation in Walk @ Lunch Day is easy – simply join Blue Cross and Blue Shield companies, employers, and state legislatures across the nation as we take time during our lunch period to simply walk for 30 minutes.

Thousands of Americans across the country will be taking a walking lunch on Wednesday, April 24. All it takes is that first step toward focusing on a healthier lifestyle, which may begin with a little walk- but it can make a BIG difference in the workplace, contributing to the overall health of employees.

Were you aware that when done briskly on a regular basis, walking can:

  • Decrease the risk of heart attack and type 2 diabetes
  • Control weight and prevent obesity
  • Improve muscle tone
  • Reduce stress
  • Help prevent certain cancers, osteoporosis & arthritis
  • Promote an overall sense of wellness
  • Increase productivity in the workplace

So start preparing now for the first of many walks that can begin to improve your health and your life. Join others who are dedicated to do the same and take the first step toward better health.
